Shillingstone @ Easter
A good day on Easter Sunday with the model performing well. We had a few issues with the Engine Driver app and some runaway trains but otherwise, the layout worked well. I have a few jobs to do before the next outing. I need to revisit the up and down home and distant signals asContinue reading “Shillingstone @ Easter”

Busier than expected
The S&DRT show at Edington in early January went very well with the layout and stock behaving itself. Phil came and helped and we had a good time at the show. I’d already made the decision to commence the rebuild of the boards to improve the running across the board joints and rectify the smallContinue reading “Busier than expected”
Shillingstone Green and Ballasted
Progress on the boards has moved on a couple of stages, The bridge frameworks are now all in place, for the first outing I will use Scalescenes brickpapers for the bridges and abutments and potentially later on replace with Plasticard if I don’t like the look. The track has been ballasted with Gaugemaster brown ballastContinue reading “Shillingstone Green and Ballasted”

Shillingstone Update
After a slow start I have managed to get some work on the layout underway. I’ve converted the pile of wood in the garage into 4 basebaords, 2 long ones for the fiddle yard and 2 open frame shorter ones for the scenic sections. The next step is to paint these before fixing the baseboardsContinue reading “Shillingstone Update”

Shillingstone 1932
My plans for Shillingstone and the show are moving along at a much faster pace than actually doing any work on the layout for the show in August. I have purchased most of the wood, baseboards and completed the woodwork on the southern extension but it has remained too cold in the garage for moreContinue reading “Shillingstone 1932”
