Shillingstone -Embankments and Bridges

With the weather being a tad warmer in early may before the hot spell I’ve been able to make some progress on the layout. On the scenic boards the embankments are in, the first layers of paper mache for the land base are on and both Raglans drove and Haywards Lane. The bridges and piers have been set up so that I can just glue on a Scalescenes brick bridge and pier facsia panel from the bridge kit. This will be done once I have the base colours down. I’m going to stick with the Paper Mache covering on the cardboard formers and not use plaster bandages so another layer and sealing with PVA next

On the power side the basic connections are in with the connectors for each end, track droppers and where needed signal feeds are all installed. Both boards done, connectors to the existing board and Fiddle yard done. Need to test though so some issues may spark up.

I wrecked the station board to get the cattle drove in next to Lamb House bridge. This needs me to work out exactly where the drove should go and then reinstating the embankment to join up with the Raglan Drove board. I’m happier with this done as it’s enabled a better embankment profile which extends now across Raglans drive to the Fiddle Yard.

Finally the Fiddle yards, Track laid, wired up and the end boards which will hide the FY from the layout shown in the last two images are ready to go, I have an idea on painting the backscene, doing a photographic one may be a future task but getting a 24 foot long scene that works is a little beyond my Photoshop skills and I want Hambledon Hill to be a feature so painting gives me some options. I bought the remaining wood for this over the weekend so ready to get started on this
